Important Information:

THIS LESSON INVOLVES THE FOLLOWING:
  • Group sizes: 2 - 4 students.
  • Length of lesson: 2 - 3 class periods.
  • Students may view (and print) grading rubric and activity worksheet by visiting the following links:

Students must use social skills and cooperatively decide how to share the following responsibilities as members of their group:

TASK 01: Use links to Google Drive to view (and print if teacher requests) rubric & activity worksheet.

TASK 02: Begin researching 6 cities, 2 per time zone, which are in 3 out of the 4 U.S. time zones.  All of these cities MUST have a significant Spanish-speaking population.  Record the total population for each city and how many people within that total population speak Spanish.  Note: include Spanish-speakers who are 5-years or older.

TASK 03: Students must determine and record the high temperature for each city in degrees Fahrenheit and the date this is researched.  Also, determine the Greatest Common Factor of the temperatures for the 2 cities in each time zone.

TASK 04: Find the mean (average) and range of all temperatures from the 6 cities.

TASK 05: Create a poster or digital presentation (Google Drive) of the group’s work.  Students should be creative, artistic and accurate with their information.  Include at least 3 commonly spoken Spanish words and give the English definition.  For example, hola in Spanish means hello in English.  Note: the WebQuest activity worksheet should be used as the source, once the students work together to gather the information, for creatively constructing the poster or digital presentation.  Above all, have fun learning!
